Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc. originated as the result of a purchase of Petticoat Contracting, Inc., The collective experience of Petticoat Contracting, Inc., and Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc., dates back to 1987.

Ryan M. Schmitt – President and Owner

Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc. originated as the result of a purchase of Petticoat Contracting, Inc., a twenty-year-old civil contracting firm located in Jacksonville, Florida.  Petticoat-Schmitt, created as a separate entity under new ownership, acquired the assets and retained the capable employees of Petticoat Contracting, thereby providing continuity for the talented staff and a retirement opportunity for the principal of Petticoat Contracting, Inc. The collective experience of Petticoat Contracting, Inc., and Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc., dates back to 1987. He earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of North Florida in 1998. A Bachelor Degree in Construction Technology from the University of North Florida, in 1993. Also, a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Florida in 1989.

Clyde Cross – Vice President

Clyde Cross has more than twenty five years in the civil contracting industry. His expertise includes project management, estimating, scheduling, job costing, and construction management. Clyde was with Petticoat Contracting for ten years prior to joining Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc. Prior to his role with Petticoat, Clyde gained experience while working on the Acosta Bridge Project for Rosiek Construction Company and for various other Highway and Bridge Projects for Hubbard Construction Company.  Clyde is responsible for the roadway and utility division of Petticoat-Schmitt.

Lauren Atwell - Vice President

As Vice President of the Plant Division, Lauren has an established career that spans over 30 years in heavy construction with a strong emphasis on water and wastewater treatment facilities. In his current position he is responsible for the overall management of water and wastewater plant construction operations for Petticoat-Schmitt. Prior to joining Petticoat Schmitt, Lauren provided leadership for plant construction operations for major construction companies in the Southeast on projects ranging from $1 million dollars to $55 million. Lauren has a Bachelor in Science Degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering, from Clarkson University of New York.
